New Highs for many indices; the McClellan Oscillator still 'hovering' @ the Zero Line. Until a clear Weekly Chart Pattern (EG: Reversal) 'sign' is witnessed, the Oscillator  is best viewed as a 'warning' & NOT reason enough to abandon longs............yet.

Singapore's Straits Times Index ($STI)

A change of pace with the $STI, what with talk of China's recovery & Japan's old- style 'fix' with a weak Yen, is the STI telling us (with an Outside Down Week) that that which helps Japan (weak Yen) may NOT assist the cause for the rest of Asia (a la 1996/97)?
The trending DMI/ADX offers the 'au contraire' viewpoint as it still says 'higher'.
We'll see soon enough.

NDX100 still struggling; GAP remains @ 2666

Is the broader market holding the NDX100 'up'; or is the NDX100 keeping the broader market from 'advancing'?
Either way; it is what it is, where the balance of outcomes resolves itself...who knows...but the GAP @ 2666 will be 'filled'.

NASDAQ McClellan Oscillator @ Close 02/01/2013

Whilst the S&P500, together with other sub- indices march higher; the NASDAQ remains below its 2012 High (the high beta: NDX100 is still some 4% shy its 2012 High) & still exhibits a 'divergence' on the McClellan Oscillator.
Sooner or later it either 'corrects' itself (the Oscillator); or it matters!
Time will tell.

The 'Apple' has fallen; how about the 'Tree'?

S&P500: Daily @ Close 01/24/2013

Busy but important chart: note the previous occasions when the DMI/ADX (Trending Indicator) has witnessed the ADX @ a '25' reading & rising (in either trending direction)? The most recent 2x's have marked a High in mid- Sept. 2012 heralding a near 9% correction over the next 2 months.
That Correction/ Decline was 'arrested' when the ADX again pierced the 25 level (this time the 'Trend' was Down), and THAT marked the mid- Nov. Low @ 1343; initiating this Rally of some 10%...back above the Sept. 2012 High.
Caveat Emptor; no?
Thursday's  Large Range Indecisive Day providing the near perfect 'back- drop' against which to tactically position oneself.
